This position focuses on carrying out individualized care plans for inmates at SCI Laurel Highlands, ensuring their daily comfort, safety, and well-being. As a Nurse Aide, you will perform the following duties:
- Vital Monitoring: Check and record vital signs, height, and weight, and collect various medical specimens
- Daily Care: Assist inmates with bathing, hygiene tasks, dressing, eating, position changes, and safe movement
- Medical Support: Escort wheelchair inmates to medical areas, assist with restraints, follow infection control rules, and document care
- Record Management: Record and retrieve information in the electronic health record and complete required written reports
- Environmental Safety: Maintain a clean workspace, report hazards, and follow agency and facility procedures
- Supply Handling: Sterilize equipment, manage inventories, and maintain adequate stock levels

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- The Department of Corrections is staffed by three work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Eight-hour shifts include 1st shift (6:00 AM to 2:30 PM), 2nd shift (2:00 PM to 10:30 PM), and 3rd shift (10:00 PM to 6:30 AM), with rotating days off and a 30-minute lunch. Your work schedule is to be determined.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or
- Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.
Special Requirement:
- This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
