Position Overview

The AES Group Inc. is seeking an experienced Civil/Structural Engineer for one of our clients supporting major industrial facility projects. This role requires strong expertise in the analysis and design of structural steel and reinforced concrete systems.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting facilities such as gas processing plants, liquid terminals, LNG facilities, chemical plants, and bulk material handling operations. Proficiency with STAAD.Pro or comparable structural analysis and design software is essential.

The selected engineer will work closely with designers, drafters, project personnel, and client stakeholders to develop safe, code-compliant, and constructible structural solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review structural steel and reinforced concrete calculations, designs, and analyses in accordance with project specifications and applicable codes.
  • Design structural systems for pipe racks, cable tray racks, equipment supports, foundations, platforms, and other industrial facility components.
  • Develop engineering sketches and provide technical direction to designers and drafters preparing 3D models and 2D construction drawings.
  • Review design drawings, engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and related project documentation for accuracy and quality.
  • Perform field activities, including site observations, condition assessments, measurements, and documentation of existing structures and facilities.
  • Coordinate engineering activities with civil, mechanical, electrical, piping, and other project disciplines.
  • Manage multiple assignments while maintaining project quality, budget, and schedule expectations.
  • Communicate directly with project teams, clients, vendors, and other stakeholders in a professional manner.
  • Serve as a Lead Engineer when required, supervising engineering staff and designers while monitoring deliverables, budgets, and schedules.
  • Identify design challenges, recommend practical solutions, and support projects through design, review, and construction phases.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum of 6 years of structural engineering experience involving industrial facilities.
  • Demonstrated experience designing structural steel and reinforced concrete systems.
  • Experience supporting gas plants, LNG facilities, liquid terminals, chemical plants, or bulk material handling facilities.
  • Strong proficiency with STAAD.Pro or similar structural design and analysis software.
  • Working knowledge of structural engineering codes and standards, including:
    • AISC 360
    • ACI 318
    • ASCE 7
    • International Building Code
  • Ability to prepare, review, and interpret engineering calculations, drawings, reports, and specifications.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities under time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented approach with a strong commitment to engineering quality and accuracy.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
