The Dental Hygienist position with State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Camp Hill offers a meaningful opportunity to support patient health within the Department of Corrections. This position focuses on providing dental hygiene treatments and supporting daily clinical operations at SCI Camp Hill. It requires attention to detail, strong communication, and the ability to deliver effective preventive care. As a Dental Hygienist, you will perform the following duties:

  • Hygiene Procedures: Perform periodontal probing, scaling, root planning, polishing, and apply fluorides or sealants
  • Clinical Preparation: Prepare workspaces, sterilize instruments, and set up patients for treatment
  • Oral Screening: Conduct oral screenings and record all findings
  • Patient Education: Explain preventive care and provide guidance on oral hygiene and nutrition
  • Radiograph Processing: Expose, process, mount, and evaluate dental radiographs for diagnostic use
  • Record Management: File and retrieve dental records and ensure they follow required procedures

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. 
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. 
  • Additional pay will be considered for those who currently possess or obtain licensure as a Public Health Dental Hygiene Practitioner issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry. Documentation will need to be provided at interview to receive additional pay consideration.

QUALIFICATIONS

Special Requirements:

  • You must possess a license to practice as a dental hygienist as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry.

Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
