UPMC is hiring a Casual Research Assistant to support our team at the Magee Womens Research Institute (MWRI) team at Magee Womens Hospital! This position will support our surgeon that helps run/coordinate the benign gynecology biobank. She and her partners perform greater that 1,000 surgeries at Magee every year. This position will help with recruiting patients that go to the OR for benign gynecologic conditions (pain, bleeding, fibroids, endometriosis) in order to support research for diagnostic and therapeutic modalities at partner labs at both MWRI and University of Pittsburgh.
This position will be scheduled to work Monday, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 7:00am to 2:00pm with some flexibility. No evenings, weekends, or holidays required. We are looking for someone who is hard working, punctual, dependable, interacts well with patients and staff, and pays good attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
- Organize references and materials for research projects and content areas.
- Maintain professionalism in all interactions with stakeholders and internal staff.
- Conduct literature searches.
- Provide support for grant proposal and manuscript development and submission.
- Participate in meetings, trainings and seminars, both internally and externally.
- Perform data collection and entry.
- Assist in data management.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field, or current enrollment, with some experience in research environment.
Experience in the area of public health, psychology, applied research or behavioral health is preferred. Strong written and verbal skills. Detail oriented. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and the ability to learn various software packages as needed.
