As a PennDOT CDL Operator B with the Department of Transportation, you will help ensure that roadway markings remain accurate and easy to follow. Your work supports the daily travel needs of residents and visitors throughout the district. This position allows you to operate important machinery while assisting with key maintenance tasks. This role supports the District Paint Crew by performing pavement-marking, equipment operation, and maintenance tasks that keep roadways clearly marked. It involves steady field work and adherence to safety practices. As a PennDOT CDL Operator B, you will perform the following duties:
- Paint Application: Operate pavement-marking equipment to place single and double paint lines
- Equipment Checks: Inspect and adjust hoses, gauges, fluids, and controls before operation
- Truck Operation: Drive paint and supply trucks safely in traffic while maintaining proper application speeds
- Material Handling: Move pallets, totes, and supplies manually or with forklifts and other devices
- Maintenance Tasks: Perform lubrication, minor repairs, and preventive care on painting equipment and vehicles
- Reporting Duties: Prepare daily usage reports and provide data required by crew leadership

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Work hours change due to operational needs, with the possibility to work overtime each day and on weekends during the painting season.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Transportation Equipment Operator A (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- One year of experience in the operation of construction and maintenance equipment; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class A or B Commercial Driver's License or equivalent with the Air Brake Restriction (L) removed.
This position requires possession of a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
This position requires an active Tank Vehicle Endorsement (N) during the probationary period and continuously maintain it while employed in this job.
This position requires an active certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in the operation of heavy trucks and loaders, and two pieces of equipment at this level within the probationary period.
This position requires employees to obtain additional certifications issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation on assigned pieces of equipment.

- Possession of an active Hazardous Materials Endorsement (H)
- E or O restrictions removed on the active Pennsylvania Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
