This position plays an important part in ensuring that driver license applicants meet safety and identity standards. The role supports secure licensing processes and reliable customer service. As a Driver License Examiner, you will perform the following duties:
- Safety Evaluation: Determine driving abilities and check vehicles for required mechanical conditions
- Vision Testing: Administer vision screenings and assess applicants using standardized tools
- Knowledge Assessment: Conduct written examinations to confirm understanding of laws and traffic signs
- Identity Verification: Examine documents and use systems to authenticate identities and detect fraud
- Customer Processing: Issue licensing products and provide guidance on renewals, transfers, and specialty license requirements
- Compliance Duties: Follow REAL ID rules, customer service policies, fee waiver guidelines, and Title VI procedures

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Work overtime and travel to other Driver License Centers when needed
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.
Special Requirements:
- All positions require an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver’s License or equivalent and twenty-one years of age at the time of application.
- All positions require no suspensions or revocations of a driver’s license during the five year period immediately preceding employment.
- All employees in this job hired after February 28, 2022, are required to obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver’s license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment.
