The Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine Division is made of up approximately 70 clinical staff and over 100 research staff who work in a variety of locations including: Bridgeside Point, Biomedical Science Tower (BST), UPMC Hospitals including Presbyterian, Shadyside, East, Jameson and Mercy. The division provides world class services across 10 inpatient services at five hospitals and over 70,000 outpatient office visits. We have a major research mission that focuses on basic, clinical, and translational research on the lung, microbiome, COVID-19, sleep medicine, and allergy and immunology.
The Research Data Analyst II position will play a key role in designing and executing translational and precision medicine studies in critical illness. This mid-level position involves analysis and modeling of multidimensional data including electronic health record and clinical trial data, direction in team management in completion of research studies, and efforts in project management. Experience with academic research, preferably including publications and experience with applications such as R, Python, SQL, and/or Stata are preferred.
Evaluates business requirements and performs moderately advanced data integration and analysis. Develops moderately advanced analytical and reporting tools utilizing integrated data. Provides technical support.
Statistical Analytics: Apply and assist in the conduct of statistical models and machine learning approaches to analyze complex research data under the supervision of the principal investigator and collaborators.
Data Management and Visualization: Preparation of observational and trial datasets for complex statistical analyses and preparation of research figures for lab meetings and research presentations.
Research Design and Support: Collaboration on research study design, data collection and transformation protocols, and IRB requirements.
Publication and Proposal Support: Prepare summaries of methods and results for publications and contribute to writing and review of manuscripts and proposals.
Mentorship and Leadership: Guiding junior analysts and medical trainees in data analysis and project execution.
Must be able to sit/stand for up to 8 hours.
