As a Fishing & Boating Semi Skilled Laborer, you will play an important role in advancing the Fish & Boat Commission's mission to protect, conserve, and improve the Commonwealth's aquatic resources while expanding quality fishing and boating opportunities. The majority of work is performed outdoors and includes a wide range of hands-on tasks in diverse and scenic locations. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with a small team to maintain and enhance public fishing and boating facilities owned or managed by the Fish and Boat Commission within Maintenance Area 3, serving multiple counties in Northeast Pennsylvania. This role supports construction and maintenance work at facilities owned by the PA Fish and Boat Commission. The position includes a wide range of tasks that help improve public access, maintain structures, and support skilled crews. As a Semi Skilled Laborer, you will perform the following duties:

  • Facility Work: Perform labor tasks such as tree removal, pipe installation, guide rail work, berm creation, and general site upkeep
  • Trade Assistance: Assist carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and masons with installation, repairs, concrete work, and building tasks
  • Equipment Use: Operate tools such as tampers, pumps, skill saws, vibrators, generators, and mowers
  • Grounds Care: Mow areas, clean public spaces, remove trash, cut brush, and clear ditches and sewers
  • Road Maintenance: Support grading work, asphalt repair, crack sealing, and upkeep of parking areas
  • Dock and Building Work: Assist with construction, installation, and repair of docks, mooring facilities, signs, and building features

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Seasonal, full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch OR Alternate Work Schedule available, MTW 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM, TH 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM, F Off.
  • There may be occasional travel, overnights, weekend, evening, holiday, or overtime work.
  •  This position does not receive medical benefits. Paid time off accrues after working 750 regular (non-overtime) hours in each calendar year.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Condition of Employment:

  • You must be in possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.

Additional Requirement:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
