Casual Registered Nurse - Neuro Trauma and Neurosurgery (UPMC Presbyterian 8G/8D)

UPMC Presbyterian, a Magnet designated hospital, is currently hiring a Casual Registered Nurse to support the Neuro Division. Join a collaborative team dedicated to delivering life-changing care to patients with complex neurological and trauma needs.

This position will allow the nurse to begin working on 8G Neuro Trauma to then transition to the Neurosurgery Unit, 8D following the opening of the Kamin Tower.

The UPMC Presbyterian Kamin Tower, opening in January 2027, is shaping the future of hospital care - and the dedicated teams that support the environment are essential to that mission. A state-of-the-art building designed with safety, efficiency, and comfort of employees, patients and visitors in mind, the tower offers a modern workplace where every employee can do their best work, every day.

Standing at 17 stories tall and one million square feet, the tower includes thoughtfully designed rooftop gardens, flexible outdoor spaces, and 636 private patient rooms with the latest in patient care technology - and we are looking for nurses to join our team.

This is more than a place to work; it is an opportunity to shape the future of health care while making a lasting impact on the Pittsburgh community.

About the Units:

8G is a 23-bed progressive care unit specializing in the care of neurologic and neurosurgical patients. As a comprehensive stroke and trauma unit, we manage step-down admissions for stroke and trauma patients transitioning from intensive care. Our nurses are equipped with NIH Stroke Scale training and ACLS certification, and they have the opportunity to pursue advanced certifications in neuroscience and trauma nursing.

8D is a 17-bed acuity adaptable neurosurgical unit, primarily caring for adults with brain tumor, spinal cord injury, head injury, and stroke. Our patients have often undergone craniotomies for conditions such as brain hemorrhage or tumor, biopsies, lumbar laminectomies and spinal discectomies, lumbar drain insertion, and external ventricular drains. We have numerous discharges and admissions each day, making for a fast pace of work. Nurses on 8D collaborate with world-renowned neurosurgeons who employ innovative microscopic procedures for pituitary tumors and trigeminal neuralgia, as well as non-invasive gamma knife treatment.
