Pittsburgh, PAPosted July 15, 2026via Pitt Careers

Performs laboratory testing and some analysis on multiple types of specimen samples. Operates and properly sterilizes equipment and maintains inventory and assists with ordering.

The Department of Plastic Surgery is hiring a Research Coordinator to develop a consistent, automated process for cleaning, standardizing and accurately mapping data for breast reconstruction outcomes. This data will then be imported in an established REDCap database. Developing an automated workflow to transform source-system data extracts into a high-quality, standardized REDCap database will enable reliable querying, efficient cohort creation, and longitudinal analyses across sites and surgeons. Once refined, the REDCap database will support broad and granular analyses of breast reconstruction outcomes, helping to standardize critical practice and identify opportunities to optimize care.

Duties include:

1) Refine and expand the breast reconstruction REDCap database into a standardized, query-capable platform for longitudinal outcomes research.

2) Use the refined REDCap database to evaluate outcomes of prepectoral DTI reconstruction in patients with radiation exposure.

3) Evaluate the implementation of competency-based plastic surgery education.

4) Evaluate the development, educational impact, and sustainability of the plastic surgery "boot camp."

5) Evaluate the role of sustaining and/or expanding the dual-track plastic surgery residency programs within the changing national training landscape.
