This position will be in the Shea Lab in the Department of Surgery. This position will support essential research activities across volunteer participant human research studies and patient studies. Blood sample collection is an essential part of this job. Phlebotomy experience is required. Blood product collection is also required. Experience with blood product collection is preferred but not required. Blood handling experience is required, as well as coagulation and hemostasis assay experience.

Manages patient/subject recruitment for multiple, simultaneous studies and identifies and enrolls patients into clinical trials utilizing appropriate enrollment standards. Oversees day-to-day implementation of study protocols/clinical trials as well as medical histories and lab values. Performs technical nursing duties and neuropsychological testing, responds to all medical emergencies, prepares accurate documentation for human research studies, and assists in the preparation of abstracts and manuscripts for publication. Ensures all protocol and regulatory standards adherence.
Interact with volunteer human research participants including scheduling, screening, consenting, enrolling, and collecting blood samples. Collect blood products, maintain records, perform sample processing testing when needed/appropriate, document research activities, both human subjects' interactions and any sample processing, support data analysis and interpretation, support clinical studies including collecting samples from patients and supporting and maintaining documentation. Maintain data integrity including data monitoring and addressing queries.
Must be able to transport mobile equipment (on wheels) and lift 20 lbs. Requires active workdays during participant visits and interactions, which may require prolonged periods of standing.
