This position supports the legislative functions of the Department of Health by working closely with state officials, agency staff, and constituents. The work centers on communication, coordination, and informed decision making across multiple partners. To excel in this role, you will utilize your exceptional organizational skills and technological fluency to seamlessly manage complex legislative workflows. As a Legislative Specialist 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Team Collaboration: Work as part of a highly cohesive team that supports departmental legislative activities
  • Stakeholder Contact: Engage with legislators, agency leaders, executive agencies, and constituents on matters related to Department of Health needs
  • Internal Coordination: Work with internal offices such as Communications, Policy, Legal, and Budget to support unified external messaging
  • Inquiry Response: Research and respond to inquiries from legislative offices regarding constituent outreach
  • Legislative Support: Assist in planning, organizing, and directing legislative functions for the department
  • Bill Evaluation: Review, evaluate, and provide feedback on legislation from departmental and administrative personnel

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 2 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Three years of varied and broad governmental experience, including one year of work directly related to legislative analysis; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirement:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • A current driver’s license which is not under suspension
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Fluency in technology
