Driver License Examiner Assistant - S. York Value Center

As a Driver License Examiner Assistant with the Department of Transportation, you will help customers navigate the licensing process. This position plays an important part in verifying identity documents and assisting applicants with required forms. Your work will support accurate records, safe driving practices, and clear customer communication. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping people complete essential services.


This position supports driver licensing services by assisting customers, reviewing documents, and entering required information into state systems. As a Driver License Examiner Assistant, you will perform the following duties:

  • Customer Assistance: Greet applicants, provide forms, and explain driver licensing requirements
  • Document Review: Examine identification documents to prevent fraud and ensure accuracy
  • Test Administration: Give vision screenings and knowledge tests using standard procedures
  • Data Entry: Enter applicant information and test results into online licensing systems
  • Service Guidance: Provide information about REAL ID, renewals and all licensing options
  • Compliance Duties: Follow fee waiver policies and customer service standards

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 80 hours bi-weekly
  • Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Overtime and travel may be required
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. 
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • This position requires the selected candidate to undergo and pass a Fingerprint and Name-Based Criminal History Check prior to employment.
