The Director of Hospitality with the Department of General Services leads high-level events and guest experiences at the Pennsylvania Governor Residence. This role provides strategic leadership for hospitality, protocol, and events at the Pennsylvania Governor Residence while supporting high-quality guest experiences and operational excellence. As a Director of Hospitality, you will perform the following duties:
- Event Leadership: Direct event planning and coordination to create smooth, high-quality experiences
- Guest Standards: Maintain strong protocol expectations and uphold high customer service standards
- Space Oversight: Manage scheduling and use of Residence areas to support operational priorities
- Team Supervision: Guide hospitality staff and oversee front-of-house service operations
- Operational Strategy: Develop event processes and tools that support consistency and improvement
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. This position is essential and the employee will need to be available 24/7.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as an Administrative Officer 3 (Commonwealth title); or
- Six years of experience in progressively responsible and varied office management or staff work, including experience in personnel management, budgeting, or procurement; and such training as may have been gained through graduation from a four-year college or university; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- You must have a minimum of 7 years of experience leading hospitality, event management, or guest services operations in a corporate, government, nonprofit, or luxury hospitality environment.
- You must have a minimum of 5 years of experience managing large-scale, high-profile events involving executive leadership, government officials, or VIP stakeholders.
- You must have a minimum of 3 years of experience supervising and developing professional hospitality or event management staff, including performance management and team leadership.
- You must have a minimum of 3 years of experience managing event budgets, vendor contracts, procurement processes, and financial reporting while ensuring fiscal accountability.
- You must have a minimum of 2 years of experience using enterprise event management software (such as Cvent) to coordinate event registration, communications, guest management, reporting, and logistics.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
