The Senior Benefits Specialist, Employee Experience & Insights plays a critical role in shaping how employees understand, experience, and value their benefits. The specialist reports directly to the VP, Employee Benefits, Wellbeing, & HR Technology. They serve as a key resource for benefits leadership and functions as a liaison to the HR Innovation and Experience and Internal Communications teams.
The role blends benefits knowledge, employee experience analysis, communication strategy development, and a passion for leveraging technology to drive digital innovation. This role will lead strategies to translate complex programs in benefits and wellbeing into clear, engaging, and increasingly personalized employee experiences.

Responsibilities:
Benefits & Retirement Partnership:
- Serve as a senior individual contributor on the Employee Benefits team, supporting benefits and wellbeing as key elements of the Total Rewards portfolio
- Assist VP, Employee Benefits with communications planning and executive team updates• Partner with benefits and retirement subject matter experts to understand plan design, program changes, timelines, and compliance considerations.
- Support major initiatives such as annual open enrollment, mergers and acquisitions, vendor partnerships, new program launches, and ongoing program enhancements.
- Ensure communications accurately reflect benefit and retirement plan provisions, policies, and governing documents.
Employee Experience & Communications Liaison:
- Act as the primary connection between the Benefits team and HR Innovation and Experience and Internal Communications teams.
- Translate benefits and retirement strategies and technical information into clear, employee friendly messaging.
- Coordinate messaging, timing, channels, and audience targeting to maximize reach, engagement, and understanding.
- Align benefits and retirement communications with broader employee experience goals and enterprise communication standards.
Communications & Content Development:
- Lead development and coordination of benefits content across multiple channels (e.g., intranet, articles, campaigns, FAQs, toolkits).
- Support targeted communications based on employee demographics, life stages, roles, and utilization or participation goals.
- Develop manager ready talking points and leader resources as required.
- Use storytelling techniques to help employees understand the full value of their Total Rewards, including retirement readiness and long term financial wellbeing.
Digital & AI Enabled Communications:
- Continuously monitor emerging AI and technology trends and apply relevant innovations to enhance the effectiveness, personalization, and efficiency of benefits communications and work products
- Use digital tools and emerging AI enabled capabilities to enhance benefit communications and employee listening, such as:
- Synthesizing employee feedback, inquiries, and survey results
- Identifying themes and gaps in understanding across benefits and retirement programs
- Supporting more relevant and personalized messaging
- Partner with Benefits, Communications, and HR Technology teams to pilot and scale new tools that improve holistic employee experience.
Measurement & Continuous Improvement:
- Help assess the effectiveness of benefits and retirement communications using engagement, utilization, participation, and feedback data.
- Identify opportunities to improve clarity, engagement, and employee experience.
- Contribute insights to inform future benefits and retirement strategies and communication planning.
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, communications, marketing, business, or a related field, and five (5) years of progressive experience in employee benefits, HR technology, HR communications, employee experience, or a related role
- OR High school diploma and seven (7) years of progressive experience in employee benefits, HR technology, HR communications, employee experience or related role
- Strong ability to translate complex or technical information into clear, engaging communications.
- Experience working cross functionally with HR, communications, or employee experience teams.
- Strong organizational, project management, and collaboration skills.
- Experience supporting retirement programs (e.g., 401(k), 403(b), financial wellbeing initiatives) within a large or complex organization is preferred.
- Experience supporting Open Enrollment or large scale HR initiatives if preferred
- Familiarity with multi-channel communications and audience segmentation is preferred.
- Interest in or exposure to digital tools, analytics, or AI enabled communication approaches is preferred.
