This position focuses on supporting individualized care plans for inmates at SCI Laurel Highlands through daily health and personal care tasks. As a Nurse Aide, you will perform the following duties:

  • Vital Monitoring: Check and record vital signs, height, weight, and toileting patterns
  • Specimen Collection: Collect urine, feces, and sputum specimens for medical review
  • Hygiene Support: Assist inmates with bathing, grooming, and dressing
  • Mobility Assistance: Provide lifting, positioning, transferring, and ambulation support
  • Care Coordination: Escort wheelchair inmates to the medication line and consultations and communicate important health information to staff
  • Infection Control: Follow all universal healthcare precautions and infection control procedures

Work Schedule and Additional Information: 

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • The Department of Corrections is staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
    • 1st shift: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM; 2nd shift: 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM; and 3rd shift: 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM.
    • You will have rotating days off.
    • Work hours TO BE DETERMINED.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or
  • Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.

Special Requirement:

  • This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.

Additional Requirements:
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
