This position offers an excellent opportunity for both entry-level attorneys seeking hands-on experience in corporate, sales, and personal income tax matters, as well as experienced practitioners who value predictable hours and a stable schedule. Work is performed independently under the guidance of a supervising attorney and within a relaxed environment. As an Attorney I, you will perform the following duties:

  • Analyze Cases: Review taxpayer petitions and complete case files—such as returns, notices, ledgers, audit reports, and Board of Appeals decisions—to complete a full analysis of each case
  • Draft Guidance: Make well-reasoned recommendations to the Board regarding the proper resolution of tax appeals based on your analysis
  • Communicate Collaboratively: Request additional information from taxpayers and meet with taxpayers, their representatives, or Department of Revenue Counsel to discuss issues and evidence, when needed
  • Develop Professionally: This position also provides continuing legal education 

Work Schedule and Additional Information: 

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Free parking. 
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to two days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of law and certificate of admission to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania; or 
  • Completion of all preparatory steps and application to become a member of the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.

Post Employment Requirement:

  • Applicants must be certified for admission to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and must maintain membership on a continuous basis during employment.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must have experience using Microsoft computer applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook or the ability to learn relevant software applications.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Possession of a current license to practice law in Pennsylvania
  • Full-time professional legal experience
  • Post-graduate coursework in law
  • Full-time professional tax administration experience
