As a Corrections Records Specialist with the Department of Corrections, you will manage information that supports inmate movement, identification, and legal processes at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Muncy. This position maintains, verifies, and updates inmate records to support safe operations and ensure accurate documentation across the institution. As a Corrections Records Specialist, you will perform the following duties:
- Record Maintenance: Collect and verify inmate information from multiple sources to ensure accuracy of records
- Data Validation: Review official documents and court orders to determine correct actions for sentence updates or releases
- Intake Processing: Interview, photograph, and fingerprint inmates to support proper identification and documentation
- Release Coordination: Arrange appropriate authorization and documentation for inmate transportation and release
- Security Support: Assist with inmate escorts, area safety, and routine searches for contraband
- Staff Guidance: Provide instruction and support to lower-level records staff following established procedures

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40-hour work week
- Work hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $49,010.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Records Specialist 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Three years of clerical or correctional custodial experience including one year in a correctional facility; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training, which includes one year of clerical or correctional custodial experience in a correctional facility.
Other Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
