Senior Platform Engineer

Location: Pittsburgh, PA; Strongsville, OH; Birmingham, AL; Farmers Branch, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Lakewood, CO
Contract: W2 only, 12 month contract with potential for extension or conversion to full time with either the client or CEI
Pay: $ 65+/hour + optional medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match

Overview
Provide operational support for enterprise VMware Aria and VCF Foundation platforms. This role involves managing large-scale, multi-datacenter environments, executing platform upgrades, troubleshooting, and developing automation solutions to enhance operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities

• Provide operational support for enterprise VMware Aria and VCF Foundation platforms.
• Perform incident, problem, and change management activities.
• Lead troubleshooting efforts for platform outages, performance issues, and integration failures.
• Execute platform upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management activities.
• Develop and maintain automation solutions to improve operational efficiency.
• Participate in capacity planning, health assessments, and architecture reviews.
• Create and maintain operational documentation, procedures, and runbooks.
• Partner with infrastructure, security, application, and engineering teams to support platform initiatives.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of VMware Aria Operations administration in large-scale, multi-datacenter environments.
• 3+ years of VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) experience.
• Strong VMware infrastructure expertise (vCenter, ESXi, clusters, networking).
• Experience with VMware Aria Suite products and automation tools.
• Hands-on Ansible automation experience.
• Linux (RHEL preferred) administration and troubleshooting skills.
• Working knowledge of basic commands-line operations, log analysis, service management, and scripting.
• Experience with VCF SDDC Manager operations, lifecycle management, upgrades, and patching.
• Knowledge of VMware NSX and vSAN administration.
• Experience with VMware Aria Suite components: Aria Operations, Aria Operations for Logs, Aria Operations for Networks, Aria Automation, Aria Lifecycle.
• Scripting experience in PowerShell, Bash, Python, or Perl.
• Familiarity with REST APIs and automation integrations.
• Experience supporting environments with strict security and compliance requirements.
• Understanding of monitoring, observability, and alert management best practices.
• Experience working in enterprise ITSM environments using ServiceNow (SNOW) and Jira.
• Familiarity with Archer or similar GRC platforms.

Flex Skills

• VCF SDDC Manager, NSX, and vSAN experience.
• Platform lifecycle management, monitoring, and performance tuning.
• Scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python, Perl) and REST API integration.
• Experience in secure, compliance-driven enterprise environments.
• ServiceNow, Jira, and Archer (or similar GRC tools).
