This position supports PennDOT’s roadway management programs by collecting field data, reviewing roadway features, and ensuring the accuracy of information used in statewide systems.  Your work will also focus on assisting with quality assurance work, research activities, and coordination with district staff.  As a Roadway Programs Technician 2, you will perform the following duties:


  • Data Collection: Collect, analyze, and interpret roadway information using approved procedures and electronic tools
  • Field Operations: Operate the Location Reference System (LRS) van and gather roadway feature data from locations across the state
  • Quality Review: Check district-generated location information and verify data accuracy for statewide systems
  • Technical Assistance: Support research projects, test new procedures, and assist with LRS equipment evaluations
  • Team Collaboration: Work with district personnel, help guide peers, and assist in resolving field-related issues
  • Safety Compliance: Follow safety standards, attend required training, and report hazards or unsafe conditions

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Standard work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. When traveling, the schedule shifts to 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Wednesday, and 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Thursday, also including a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position requires travel.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time.  In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.  If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.  The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.  Additional details may be provided during the interview.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Roadway Programs Technician 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of experience in analysis of data utilized in planning and scheduling of work, materials and equipment, and an Associate's Degree in the field of Business Administration, Computer Science, Highway Engineering Technology or closely related program; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • This particular position also requires possession of a current Class C driver's license which is not under suspension.
