The Office of Business, Hospitality and Auxiliary Services (BHAS) leads the University's foundational business services and is one of the many units under Finance and Operations. BHAS performs critical services to ensure our students, staff, faculty, and visitors have an exceptional experience on campus, including:
- All residence halls and University-owned leased apartments
- 36 dining locations across campus
- Hospitality services, including camps and conferences, the University Club, and Heinz Memorial Chapel
- University Logistics, including student and campus mail, surplus property, campus printing, and moving services
- Campus Mobility, including parking lots and garages, campus shuttles, and commuting opportunities
- Panther Central – the University’s one-stop shop for all campus needs including Pitt IDs
- Campus retail operations, including three on-campus stores - The University Store on Fifth, Maggie & Stella's Cards & Gifts, and The Pitt Shop
A High School Diploma or GED is required for this position and a Bachelor's degree is Preferred.
Utilizes point of sale system to complete sales transactions and processes exchanges and returns. Designs appealing store displays, replenishes stock items, and inventories stock and sales areas. Adheres to loss prevention policies. Delivers effective customer service and fulfills order requests.
The Warehouse Associate will work in assigned department, providing exceptional internal & external customer service in person, online & over the telephone. Familiarity with University Store merchandise in all departments. Receive product, assist with special orders, regalia orders, University Requisition, or eCommerce order fulfillment as necessary. Utilize computer database to retrieve & research information for customers & department. Assist with eCommerce, order fulfillment and text rental process. - Verify & supply information to facilitate accurate returns in compliance with vendor return policy
- Ability to lift cartons up to 50 lbs.
- Extensive data entry that includes assisting with requisitions & other stock orders, including pending orders, sales catalogs, best sellers, general merchandise orders.
Verify organizational & institutional qualifications. Correct, edit, verify or delete data for accurate database maintenance.
- Awareness of & adherence to all loss prevention policies & procedures.
- Other tasks as necessary to support Book Center operations, including, but not limited to, assistance with store and stock inventory management, yearly physical inventory, textbook reservation process, graduation and “grad central”, and a variety of in-store and out of store events.
- Additional duties and hours will be required as needed to support a variety of Book Center initiatives.
The position requires incumbent to stand and/or walk for long hours, lift and move heavy objects (50 pounds or more), push or pull heavy pallets and merchandise dollies. Sitting, standing, and walking. Requires frequent lifting, carrying and moving heavy objects, up to 50lbs. Requires standing for long hours at a time.
