Junior IT Asset Technician

Contract: W2 only, 6 month contract with potential for extension or conversion to full time
Pay: $19 /hour + optional medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match
Responsibilities

  • Asset & Inventory Management: Receive, inspect, and process incoming IT hardware and accessories. Maintain accurate inventory records and asset tracking information. Perform asset tagging, auditing, and reconciliation activities. Conduct regular inventory counts and assist with inventory accuracy initiatives. Validate hardware against purchase orders, shipping manifests, and asset records.
  • Shipping & Receiving: Prepare and package equipment for shipment to teammates and company locations. Coordinate outbound shipments using approved carriers and procedures. Process incoming returns, recovered assets, and vendor shipments. Track shipment status and maintain delivery records. Ensure secure and compliant handling of hardware during transit.
  • Device Provisioning & Deployment: Configure and prepare laptops, desktops, monitors, mobile devices, and peripherals. Perform imaging, enrollment, and basic software installation tasks. Assist with new hire technology preparation and deployment. Stage equipment for office moves, onboarding events, and project rollouts. Validate devices meet deployment standards prior to distribution.
  • Depot Operations Support: Support daily operations within the IT depot and asset management facility. Organize and maintain storage areas, workstations, and inventory locations. Process returned equipment for redeployment, recycling, or disposal. Maintain cleanliness and operational readiness of depot facilities. Support asset lifecycle activities from receipt through retirement.
  • Customer (Teammate) Support: Provide professional, courteous support to teammates receiving or returning equipment. Assist with hardware pickups, exchanges, and equipment collections. Support desk setups and basic workstation installations. Communicate status updates regarding equipment availability and fulfillment. Deliver exceptional customer service while representing the IT organization.
  • General Support: Assist with workplace technology deployments and refresh projects. Follow documented procedures and inventory controls. Escalate issues, shortages, or discrepancies promptly. Support special projects and other asset management duties as assigned.

Required Skills

  • 0-2 years of experience in IT support, asset management, inventory control, warehouse operations, or related field.
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware and peripheral devices.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, bend, reach, and walk for extended periods

Required Education

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Preferred Skills

  • Previous experience working in an IT depot, service desk, warehouse, or asset management environment.
  • Familiarity with IT asset management practices and asset tracking systems.
  • Experience supporting laptop and desktop deployments.
  • Knowledge of barcode scanners, inventory systems, or shipping platforms.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows device setup and configuration.
