POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Seton Hill University seeks to fill a Graduate Assistant position within the Office of Orientation and Transition Programs. The purpose of this position is to assist with the overall success for the Office of Orientation and Transition Programs at Seton Hill University, including but not limited to: the implementation of Setonian Orientations and Welcome Weekend in August and January; the selection and training of related student leaders; and support to student campus traditions and initiatives.
The Graduate Assistant advises approximately 20-30 student leaders, such as Orientation Leaders and Orientation Leader Coordinators.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Co-coordinates implementation of Office of Orientation and Transition Programs related projects, including but not limited to: Setonian Orientation and Welcome Weekend.
- Assists in development and implementation of Orientation Leader recruitment, selection, and training.
- Partner with key university stakeholders and departments, such as Residence and Commuter Life, the Counseling Center, Career and Professional Development Center, Health Services, Campus Ministry, Maintenance and Custodial Services, Food Services, and other offices as necessary to develop services/initiatives that promote successful student transitions into Seton Hill University and throughout a student's university experience.
- Maintains required weekly office hours (averaging 20 in-office hours per week).
- Provide support to student leaders in the planning and implementation of annual campus traditions that align with the mission and are in collaboration with campus partners.
- Performs all other duties as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATION:
- A bachelor's degree and acceptance into one of Seton Hill University eligible MBA/Education graduate programs is required.
- Ability to carry oneself in a professional manner while working and on campus.
- Availability and flexibility for work schedule that could include nights and weekends.
- The incumbent must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, in person and by telephone, and must be able to travel within the University community as well as externally.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:
- Experience in counseling, student leadership, orientation, and/or residence life is preferred.
- Supervisory experience is preferred.
