Overview:

The Purchasing Supervisor performs all aspects of purchasing for the company. They must identify the products that are to be purchased, identify the most appropriate supplier for the products, confirm all aspects of pricing and delivery while maintaining relationships with suppliers.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop/implement procurement strategies for cost optimization and enhanced supply chain efficiency.
  • Conduct research to identify potential vendors and evaluate their price, quality, and delivery timeframes
  • Negotiate in bound freight terms
  • Seek out new suppliers – Sourcing for metals and plastics
  • Direct and manage sourcing strategies from beginning to end.
  • Keep updated lead times in company ERP system
  • Oversee consignment material
  • Ensure that purchased materials meet the company’s quality standards.
  • Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to ensure favorable pricing, payment terms and mutually beneficial agreements.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to stay updated on industry trends, supplier capabilities and pricing fluctuations.
  • Monitor inventory levels, analyze demand patterns and implement inventory management strategies to manage stock levels and avoid shortages or excesses.
  • Ensure all purchasing documents are complete and accurate such as purchase orders, invoices, and receipts.
  • Implement procurement systems and tools to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Manage supplier relationships, including regular communication, performance evaluations and issue resolution while forming long term relationships.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve procurement practices, including identifying cost-saving opportunities and process enhancements.
  • Prepare and present reports on procurement activities, performance metrics and cost savings to higher management.
  • Stay up-to-update on regulatory requirements and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations related to sourcing activities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration or a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience as a purchasing specialist within the manufacturing sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of procurement principles, vendor management, and contract negotiations.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, including the ability to build solid relationships with vendors and internal teams.
  • Knowledge of vendor management and inventory management systems.
  • An analytical mind with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in using ERP software and systems. Made2Manage, a plus.
