This role focuses on giving daily care and support to residents in a respectful and safe environment. As a Nurse Aide, you will perform the following duties:

  • Resident Care: Assist residents with daily living tasks such as bathing, grooming, feeding, and mobility based on their care plans
  • Safety Support: Apply basic safety devices and report any unsafe conditions or changes in resident behavior to nursing staff
  • Observation Duties: Observe resident conditions and share important information with professional staff to support their care needs
  • Room Upkeep: Maintain clean, comfortable, and organized resident rooms and help with linen changes and supply restocking
  • Transport Assistance: Move and escort residents safely to appointments, activities, or other areas as needed
  • Documentation Tasks: Record care and services accurately on required forms to meet facility and regulatory standards

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours will be determined from the following shifts, with a 30-minute lunch. You will work rotating days and weekends.
    • 1st shift (6:45 AM to 3:15 PM)
    • 2nd shift (3:00 PM to 11:30 PM)
    • 3rd shift (11:15 PM to 7:45 AM)
  • Overtime: As needed
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. 
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
  • DMVA is pleased to announce the launch of a Nursing Referral Program, promoting the hiring and retention of nursing staff at Pennsylvania’s veterans homes. Under this program, both referring employees and referred candidates may be eligible for payments of up to $4,000.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or
  • Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.
  • This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.

Additional Requirement:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
