Recreation and Conservation Advisor 2

The Recreation and Conservation Advisor 2 position with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources offers a chance to support the protection of natural lands across Pennsylvania. You will help guide projects that strengthen recreation, conservation, and community spaces. This role allows you to work with partners and take part in meaningful land acquisition efforts. This position manages recreation and conservation acquisition projects by reviewing applications, supporting partners, and guiding project development. You will assist with land evaluations, grant administration, and communication with local and statewide stakeholders. As a Recreation and Conservation Advisor 2, you will perform the following duties:

• Project Management: Oversee recreation and conservation acquisition projects and provide updates to applicants and grantees
• Grant Review: Evaluate applications, review project costs, and recommend appropriate funding levels
• Land Evaluation: Analyze deeds, surveys, appraisals, and maps to determine accuracy, value, and eligibility
• Partner Assistance: Provide guidance to applicants, grantees, and organizations through calls, email, and meetings
• Policy Development: Support updates to grant manuals, forms, and program policies to improve project management
• Stakeholder Outreach: Meet with officials, organizations, and the public to discuss projects and address concerns

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
• This position requires occasional travel
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 5 days per pay period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year as a Recreation and Conservation Advisor 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Two years of professional experience in parks, recreation, or natural resource conservation administration, planning, or development; and a bachelor’s degree in parks and recreation, landscape architecture, environmental sciences, city, regional, urban, or environmental planning, or a closely related field; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.
