This position supports the State and Special Funds Division by carrying out important accounting and fiscal management tasks.  Through your work, you will play a key role in keeping financial information accurate and ensuring smooth processes.  As a Fiscal Management Specialist 1, you will perform the following duties:


  • Budget Support: Provide assistance with preparation, analysis, monitoring, and personnel related tasks for state funds
  • System Maintenance: Maintain user access in the Spending Plan System by adding, removing, and updating employee permissions
  • Balance Review: Examine negative balance reports and notify the appropriate analyst of issues requiring attention
  • Revenue Monitoring: Track augmenting revenue deposits and enter corrections in SAP after coordinating with the State Division analyst
  • AR Oversight: Monitor open Accounts Receivable items and work with program areas to pursue delinquent payments and prepare documents for collection
  • Complement Review: Check weekly complement reports to confirm that staffing and salary levels align with authorized levels

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time.  In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.  If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.  The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.  Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51,971.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Financial Programs Trainee (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of experience in paraprofessional fiscal administration work, and a bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, economics, or a related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
