As an Environmental Group Manager with the Department of Environmental Protection, you will oversee key permitting work that supports safe water and land use. You will work with skilled staff, make important decisions, and help strengthen program consistency. This position lets you make a real impact while leading a team of professionals. This position leads the Permitting Section of the Waterways and Wetlands Program by supervising engineers and managing permit reviews. It supports consistent application of regulations, communication with stakeholders, and timely processing of permit decisions. As an Environmental Group Manager, you will perform the following duties:
- Permit Oversight: Lead permit reviews, assign applications, and ensure work follows laws and program standards
- Staff Supervision: Provide guidance, complete evaluations, train staff, and review engineering work
- Regulatory Review: Evaluate permits and documents for compliance with applicable acts, rules, and regulations
- Program Coordination: Work with regional and central office staff to develop policies and resolve permitting issues
- Enforcement Actions: Determine enforcement needs, direct investigations, and support legal processes
- Stakeholder Communication: Interact with municipalities, agencies, and the public to explain program requirements

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. - Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $77,379 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in the biological, physical, or environmental sciences, engineering, or in a field closely related to environmental protection or regulation; and five years of professional environmental protection experience; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Condition of Employment:
- This position requires possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
