The Parole Staff Technician 2 with the Department of Corrections plays a key role in supporting safe and fair supervision decisions across the state. NOTE: Senate Bill 411 merged the Department of Corrections and the Board of Probation and Parole. This position is within the Department of Corrections.

This position supports the review and processing of special probation and parole supervision requests from courts across the Commonwealth. It helps ensure that important case information is evaluated carefully and documented clearly. As a Parole Staff Technician 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Review Requests: Analyze supervision requests to determine whether cases meet acceptance requirements
  • Prepare Documents: Complete acceptance forms, conditions documents and letters for court review
  • Verify Information: Review court orders, criminal history records and offender files to confirm accuracy
  • Update Status: Change offender status codes based on warrants and other official actions
  • Coordinate Communication: Serve as a liaison to county probation departments, courts and justice partners
  • Support Training: Assist leadership with workshops on special probation and parole procedures

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:45 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 45-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days per week, after sufficient training. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.   • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51,971.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Parole Staff Technician 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of clerical experience that included one year in the interpretation and analysis of sentences and case information of criminal offenders; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that included one year in the interpretation and analysis of sentences and case information of criminal offenders.
Special Requirement:
  • You must obtain Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) certification within three months of employment and maintain this certification for the duration of employment in this job. 

Other Requirements:
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
