The Hillman Cancer Center (HCC) provides exceptional patient care as a world leader in understanding, preventing, and treating cancer through the integration of scientific discovery, clinical excellence, and community partnerships, while training the next generation of cancer experts.

Assists in preparing and submitting small grant and contract proposals. Drafts contractual arrangements and procurement proposals, conducts cost analyses, processes invoices, and performs all collections activities. Monitors grants and contractual arrangements and prepares routine financial documentation. Assists with policy and procedural interpretation and with the preparation of pre-award applications and reports to grant agencies.

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Pre-Award Administrator. The incumbent will assist with the preparation of the financial components for the pre-award phase of sponsored projects. This position is located in the HCC grants and contracts department in pre-award activities. Duties include assisting in the following for proposal processing: budgets for grant/contract submissions, various University forms as prepared at time of submission, and administrative/compliance forms involved in grant applications. Communication with faculty members to gather required information is required.

Adhere to the University and sponsoring agency pre-award policies so that accurate information is provided to investigators, HCC management, University departments, funding agencies, Director of Finance, the University, UPMC, and faculty. The incumbent should have a some understanding of principles of accounting and financial reporting, be computer literate (Microsoft Word, Excel, GL), and have good written and verbal communication skills. The incumbent should be organized, detail-oriented, flexible, open to change, and be able to adapt easily to changing situations to meet goals and deadlines.

Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
