GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This role will be responsible for image management & trouble shooting, PACS/RIS support, image quality assurance, communication with technologists and radiologists, and workflow management.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Image Management & Troubleshooting: Manage the flow of digital images through the PACS. This includes troubleshooting image transmission errors, reconciling patient information, and ensuring images are properly oriented, identified, and available for the radiologist's interpretation. (50%)

  • Communication with Technologists: Act as a liaison between the reading room radiologists and the technologists operating the scanners (in the ER, OR, or outpatient centers) to relay specific instructions or feedback on image quality and patient positioning. (15%)

  • PACS/RIS Support: Provide first-line technical support for software and hardware issues related to the PACS, Radiology Information Systems (RIS), and electronic health records (EHR). (15%)

  • Quality Assurance (QA): Review images for technical quality and correctness before they are finalized for reading, consulting with the radiologist or lead tech to ensure standards are met. (10%)

  • Training & Onboarding: May assist in orienting new hires or training student technologists on the department's specific systems and quality control procedures. (10%)

  • Other duties as assigned or requested.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • Associate's Degree from an accredited Radiologic Technology Program

  • In-depth knowledge of human anatomy, imaging modalities, radiation safety protocols (ALARA), and strong computer skills across multiple clinical IT systems (PACS, RIS, EHR).

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (R) ARRT CT, MR, US or ARDMS, ARMRIT, NMTCB

  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearnace Certificate

  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate

  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

Preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited Radiologic Technology Program

  • Certified Imaging Informatics Professional

$28.19

Pay Range Maximum:

$44.13

Base pay is determined by a variety of factors including a candidate’s qualifications, experience, and expected contributions, as well as internal peer equity, market, and business considerations.  The displayed salary range does not reflect any geographic differential Highmark may apply for certain locations based upon comparative markets.
