What You’ll Do

  • Prepare and maintain a sterile operating room environment
  • Set up, operate, and ensure proper function of surgical instruments and equipment
  • Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, handling supplies, and maintaining counts
  • Handle specimens, apply dressings, and assist with patient preparation and positioning
  • Support post-operative room turnover, safety, and aseptic standards

  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program (college, vocational school, hospital, or military)

  • 0–2 years of experience required
    No experience necessary — new graduates welcome!

  • Additional experience may qualify for Intermediate or Senior Surgical Technologist roles

  • Experience may include a variety of surgical specialties (General, Ortho, Neuro, OB/GYN, Vascular, etc.)

Certification & Education

  • CST or TSC certification required per state law

  • New grads may work up to 6 months prior to certification but must become certified within 6 months of program completion

  • Some staff may be grandfathered and exempt from certification requirements

  • Continuing Education:

    • Certified staff must meet credentialing CE requirements

    • Non-certified staff must complete 30 CE hours every 2 years

Licensure & Clearances

  • CPR/BLS (AHA) required within 30 days of hire

  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance (with renewal as required)
