This position helps maintain safe conditions at Presque Isle State Park by supervising lifeguards, inspecting beach areas, and responding to emergencies. The role also includes training staff, preparing reports, and ensuring the use of proper safety practices. As a Lake Erie Lifeguard Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:
- Staff Supervision: Assign work, review performance, and support training for lifeguards
- Rescue Response: Assist with swimmer rescues and provide first aid or CPR when needed
- Safety Inspection: Inspect swimming areas and equipment to ensure safe public conditions
- Beach Monitoring: Observe shoreline areas to maintain order and prevent accidents
- Training Support: Lead or participate in training sessions focused on lifesaving skills and safety methods
- Report Preparation: Prepare written reports that describe conditions, activities, and incidents

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Seasonal full-time employment, 40 hours/week; 7 days/week operation
- Work hours are 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM, 5 of 7 days per week
- Work schedule may vary to include weekends, holidays, and all shifts as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two seasons of experience as a Lake Erie Lifeguard (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
- All employees must obtain a valid Lifeguard Certification or Lifeguard Management Certification issued by the American Red Cross, YMCA, United States Lifesaving Association, or other authority recognized by the Pennsylvania Department of Health within 14 days of employment.
- All employees must obtain valid certifications in standard first aid and adult, child, and infant CPR within 14 days of employment.
- All positions require possession of a valid motor vehicle license.
Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- You must pass a background investigation.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
- In accordance with Act 153 of 2014 this position is required to complete Child Abuse, Criminal and Federal Criminal History Checks around the time of hire and thereafter every 5 years.
