Position Summary
Reporting to a Supervisor in the Department of Court Records, the Clerk 3 performs clerical duties in an office or warehouse setting.
Duties
- Performs data entry.
- Receives and time stamps documents.
- Provides customer services in person and via telephone.
- Retrieves files internally or at an off-site storage facility.
- Answers phones.
- Sorts mail.
- Files pleadings.
- Types and print labels.
- Scans and copies documents.
- Packs boxes.
- Moves boxes between pallets and shelves.
- Performs other related duties as required or requested.
Knowledge
- Data entry procedures and related office practices.
- Number sequence.
- Computer features and functions.
- Photocopy machine.
- Understanding of documents in case files.
Skills
- Basic computer proficiency including Windows-based programs.

- Exercise good judgement and decision-making.
- Enter data accurately and promptly into a computer.

Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma or its equivalent.
Applicants for this position will be required to pass a filing test which will test ability to alphabetize files and place files in numerical order as well as a physical test requiring the lifting and moving of a box weighing approximately, but no more than 40 pounds. Applicants will be required to take a typing test for speed and accuracy and score a minimum of 30 words per minute.
A current, valid driver's license is required for this position.
It is the policy of Allegheny County that in order to receive a final offer of employment, candidates must successfully pass a background check, which includes verification of Allegheny County Real Estate Tax status.

Allegheny County within 1 year.
