This position leads outreach efforts that identify veteran needs, build partnerships, and expand available services throughout the region. As a Veterans Services Officer Supervisor, DMVA, you will perform the following duties:

  • Community Partnerships: Build and maintain relationships with leaders and organizations to expand outreach resources for veterans
  • Program Development: Create and refine regional programs that address new or unmet veteran service needs
  • Outreach Leadership: Plan and oversee events and initiatives that educate veterans and the public about available services
  • Claims Guidance: Assist with claim reviews, information gathering, and referrals for veterans seeking program benefits
  • Training Support: Provide guidance and training to Veterans Services Officers to ensure effective program operations
  • Service Evaluation: Review program results and partner feedback to improve service delivery across the region

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 45-minute lunch. Schedule may change based on operational needs. 
    • You may be required to work some evenings and weekends.
  • This position is home headquartered. In order to be home headquartered, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
  • Travel is required. This includes overnight stays and may require travel arrangements to be made on short notice to meet operational needs.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year of experience as a Veterans Services Officer, DMVA (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Two years of experience in analyzing and determining individuals' eligibility for public benefits or services programs, which included one year performing advocacy or outreach work for veterans’ benefits and services programs, and a bachelor's degree in human services, business administration, public administration, or a related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training which included one year of analyzing and determining individuals’ eligibility and performing advocacy or outreach work for veterans’ benefits and services programs.
Special Requirements:
  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
  • You must possess valid accreditation by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs as a veterans service officer or eligibility for accreditation within one year from the date of employment.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must pass a favorable NCIC screening and possess one of the following for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap: valid REAL ID-compliant driver's license; other REAL ID-compliant identification cards; alternative acceptable document such as a passport; or military/CAC/retirees' ID card.
  • You must live within the Region 5 area to support these counties due to travel within the region at least 3 days per week. Region 5 area covers the following counties: Berks, Bucks, Chester, Dauphin, Delaware, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Montgomery, Northampton, Philadelphia, Schuylkill, and York.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Completion of a period of military service in a branch of the United States Armed Forces and separation under honorable conditions
  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience identifying available or potential resources that can provide veterans with services
  • Experience using data to determine benefits eligibility
