This position supports the maintenance department by fabricating, repairing, and maintaining adaptive equipment used by residents. It ensures that each resident receives devices that are safe, functional, and tailored to their needs. As an Adaptive Equipment Technician, you will perform the following duties:

  • Build Equipment: Select materials and create or modify adaptive devices for resident use
  • Repair Devices: Fix and adjust assistive items such as wheelchairs, braces, walkers, and therapeutic equipment
  • Use Tools: Operate machines and hand tools to shape and assemble wood, metal, plastics, and other materials
  • Support Care: Provide needed items to nursing and therapy staff and troubleshoot equipment issues
  • Maintain Inventory: Order supplies, meet with vendors, and track durable medical equipment levels
  • Ensure Safety: Follow safety rules, report hazards, and use protective equipment during daily tasks

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 7.5 hours per day, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. 
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in the fabrication, assembly, or repair of adaptive equipment.

Additional Requirement:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
