Role Overview
We are seeking a high-ownership Senior Structural Engineer to act as a core technical driver within our multi-disciplinary design team. In this role, you will perform complex structural analysis and design for large-scale, advanced industrial and commercial facilities. You will translate sophisticated design concepts into precise engineering documentation, managing your scope with a high degree of independence. As a senior professional, you will serve as the Lead Structural Engineer on medium-sized projects or a Sub-Lead on major enterprise initiatives, providing technical guidance, calculation checking, and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
Key Responsibilities
Structural Analysis & Technical Execution
Advanced Design: Competently perform all conventional and complex aspects of structural analysis and engineering design for traditional steel and concrete structures.
Lateral Analysis: Apply expert-level knowledge of lateral analysis and design principles, safely incorporating wind and advanced seismic provisions according to US building codes.
BIM Coordination: Coordinate closely with structural designers and drafting teams to ensure structural requirements are seamlessly integrated into 3D models and design documents.
Project Ownership & Leadership
Scope Management: Take complete ownership of assigned project scopes, forecasting the required level of effort and reliably executing within schedule, budget, and quality parameters.
Quality Control: Maintain a rigorous standard of attention to detail; perform independent calculation checking and quality control reviews of other engineers' work.
Technical Mentorship: Provide technical guidance, coaching, and active mentorship to less experienced engineers and structural drafters.
Scope Escalation: Proactively identify project scope changes, undefined conditions, or design challenges, and communicate adjustments clearly to Project Managers or Structural Leads.
Field Coordination & Compliance
Site Evaluation: Conduct field walks and technical evaluations within active construction and facility environments, which may include navigating restricted utility spaces or climbing ladders.
Code Enforcement: Ensure all structural design outputs comply with national codes and standards, including the IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, and AISC.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, with a specific emphasis in Structural Engineering (Master's Degree preferred).
Licensure: Active Professional Engineer (PE) license is required. An active Structural Engineer (SE) license is highly preferred.
Experience:
oMinimum of 10 years of professional experience in structural engineering and design.
oProven experience leading small engineering teams or acting as a task lead on complex projects.
oBackground in heavy industrial, general industrial, or advanced technology facilities (such as pharmaceuticals, utilities, or data centers) is highly preferred.
Technical Mastery:
oProficient with commercial structural engineering analysis software (e.g., STAAD).
oHigh proficiency with cross-discipline coordination tools like Navisworks and Bluebeam.
Logistics: High-speed internet service at home to support effective hybrid/remote performance tracking. Equal Opportunity Employer / Disabled / Protected Veterans
