The University of Pittsburgh, Department of Neurology, would like to hire a data analyst for projected related to real-world evidence for the effectiveness, safety, and tolerability of diagnostic and treatments related to seizures, as well as the analysis of clinical trials for seizures. Data Analyst is expected to be familiar with coding in R and, ideally, have familiarity with multivariable generalized linear models (e.g., logistic regression, survival models, log-normal regression, rank regression), propensity matching/inverse probability weighting, and other data wrangling techniques. Other required skills include the handling of private and protected health information, discussion of results and methods with other statistical and non-statistical people, creation of figures and tables. We will expect to train the analyst on the design and interpretation of these techniques within the electronic health record and other clinical data, as well as teach techniques of machine learning/artificial intelligence, large language models, and clinical trial methodology. Writing peer-reviewed manuscripts and presentations can be available to interested analysts.
Education is expected to be an undergraduate degree in a biostatistical-related field (e.g., statistics, biostatistics, bioinformatics, biomathematics, data science, computational neuroscience). Additional interest or background in neurology, including functional and/or epileptic seizures, would be a bonus.
The position focuses on the analysis of data; therefore, it’s expected to be almost entirely remote. There may be a single conference per year to attend in person (e.g., American Epilepsy Society in December). The rest of the group is 100% remote.
