The Department of Bioengineering is seeking a Laboratory Manager I in Dr. Xinyan Tracy Cui’s lab. Incumbent will have the responsibility of managing day-to-day laboratory operations while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and best practices.  The incumbent will also be responsible for writing and updating IACUC protocols, ordering and receiving, maintaining inventory and equipment, interacting with vendors and facility management. Aside from administrative duties, incumbent will be responsible for maintaining cell cultures, performing histological tissue processing and imaging, and assisting with small animal surgeries and procedures.

Incumbent must possess a bachelor’s degree in biology, neuroscience, biomedical engineering or related field.

Manages day-to-day laboratory operations while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and best practices. Works with, adapts, and installs scientific equipment in research laboratories. Collaborates on routine projects and procedures. Manages inventory and equipment and performs budget functions.

Ability to speak clearly for telephone contact, have manual dexterity to use equipment, and also ability to visit various locations throughout the campus.

Generally sedentary, however, this position does require incumbent to move within lab and occasionally visit industry or other locations throughout the campus. May occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
