This position is responsible for assisting in the management of the Department of Corrections (DOC) Basic Training (BT) Program for parole staff (field and institutional side).
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 3:30pm

This position is not eligible for telework.Provides the full range of supervisory duties for parole trainees during Basic Training.
Oversees and/or participates in the planning, development, and coordination for parole trainees during Basic Training at the Training Academy. Provides classroom instruction when necessary for Basic Training.
Evaluates the effectiveness of the Basic Training program and assesses the results of relevant training programs for all levels of DOC parole staff.
Plans, designs, implements and instructs training programs for all levels of parole staff.
Works with vendors to provide courses not offered by in-house staff and provides oversight, or arranges oversight, for these presentations. Serves as contract administrator in these situations.
Serves as Manager in Charge for Training Academy operations, as directed.
Independently and appropriately resolves classroom problems.
Prepares technical reports related to human resources issues. These may include, but are not limited to: documents for accreditation, reports to the Office of Administration, reports on special issues, etc.
Assess classroom instruction to ensure that: instructors use proper adult learner instructional techniques, the classroom is managed, students are engaged, co-facilitators work together appropriately, instructors follow lesson plans and achieve learning objectives. Provides instructor coaching and feedback to improve instructor’s presentation skills.
Ensures training conducted within Basic Training is in accordance with current DOC policies and procedures.
Monitors and maintains instructor certifications and ensures that instructors have the necessary skills and certifications to teach required courses and curriculum within Basic Training and specialized programs.
Provides leadership, facilitation, support, and technical expertise to Agency committees as assigned.
Participates in reviews of Basic Training examinations to ensure they reflect current curriculum. Assists with maintaining the Classmarker database.
Supervises, investigates and participates in fact-findings sessions concerning violations of the Department of Corrections and institutional policies, directives and procedures by subordinate staff.
Travels to facilitate the performance of agent OJT audits when requested.
Oversees Parole OJT completion and retains completion records.
Develops and implements the BT class schedule and instructor schedule for the Parole BT program to maintain an adequate number of qualified instructors. Works closely with BT Captain and BT Lieutenant (institutional side) to schedule classrooms for instructional activities.
Serves as liaison with parole supervisors and other staff related to the parole basic training program and any trainee concerns.
Supervises assigned sergeants per organizational structure.
Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Four years of experience in corrections security work in a Pennsylvania state or county corrections facility.(Note:Persons seeking employment under thisoptionwill berequiredto successfully complete, or have completed, a training program conducted by the Department of Corrections.)
Please Note: Certain SCI Corrections Officer positions will require applicants to have and maintain an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.

PA Residency is waived for this position.
