UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital is seeking a Full-Time Patient & Family Concierge Senior to join our Preoperative Clinic team. Responsibilities:
- Destination Coordination:
Greet patients and families, provide directions and escort assistance, and share appropriate patient information while maintaining confidentiality. Serve as a resource for hospital policies, visiting hours, and navigation. Issue parking validations, discounts, and patient scooters. Track patient belongings upon admission and assist with parking cashier functions. - Environmental Services:
Clean and maintain assigned areas (patient rooms, public spaces, offices, procedure areas). Remove trash, manage linens, replenish supplies, make beds, and ensure areas are safe and in good repair. Report maintenance concerns as needed. - Dietary Services:
Assemble and deliver meals according to diet orders and patient needs. Follow food safety (HACCP) and sanitation standards. Operate food service equipment appropriately and ensure accurate patient identification during meal delivery. - Transportation Services:
Safely transport patients, equipment, and specimens across units. Track transportation activity in systems/logs, inspect and disinfect equipment, and report issues or delays. Submit repair requests as needed. - Supply & Equipment Management:
Manage inventory and organization of supplies and equipment. Stock patient rooms and clinical areas, monitor expiration dates, maintain logs (e.g., temperature), and coordinate with supply chain. May support additional unit needs such as stocking lounges, managing kitchen areas, and ordering supplies. - Administrative Support:
Coordinate tests, procedures, and patient transport. Answer phones, manage communications, and complete EHR tasks (admissions, discharges, transfers, order entry). Maintain charts, reports, schedules, and unit logs. Handle equipment requests, patient mail, audits, and general unit coordination. - General Duties:
Respond to call lights under clinical direction, round regularly, support patient needs, and promote patient mobility. Maintain a clean, safe environment and adhere to infection control and reporting protocols. Demonstrate UPMC values and support patient portal navigation and education. - Telehealth Support:
Monitor telehealth requests in Epic, coordinate with providers, and facilitate virtual consults using telehealth equipment. Deliver, set up, disinfect, and maintain telehealth carts, including routine testing and coordination with IT.
- Must have the desire, drive, and compassion needed to provide an exceptional patient and family experience at all times
- High School diploma OR one year of previous job experience required in lieu of HS Diploma/GED.
- 6 months of experience as a Patient & Family Concierge or equivalent
- EPIC experience is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated competency in all responsibilities of Patient & Family Concierge role
- Internal promotions to this level are based on the discretion of the business unit's assessment of employee performance
- Completion of 1 annual contribution from these options: hospital/department committee participation, participation in departmental project, peer interviewer, onboarding/precepting of other Experience Concierges
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
