ANCC Magnet designated UPMC Passavant is currently hiring a Full-Time Invasive Cardiac Technologist to support our Cardiac Catheterization Lab at the McCandless location. Title and salary will be determined based upon education and experience.

Shift Details:

  • Monday - Friday
  • Four 10-hour shifts 7am - 5:30pm
  • On-call shifts required to cover nights, weekends and holidays
  • Shifts will be further discussed during the interview


Responsibilities:

  • Ensures all images are accurately coded, tracked in PACS, linked to the appropriate electronic record for archival and interpretation, and that all charges are entered correctly.
  • Maintains required continuing education and competency standards.
  • Builds positive relationships with patients and coworkers, demonstrating care, active listening, dignity, and respect.
  • Works collaboratively within the department and across teams to support efficient patient care.
  • Verifies patient identity using two identifiers and follows universal protocols during all procedures.
  • Reviews patient history and physician orders, applying departmental protocols to ensure optimal data acquisition.
  • Documents patient history in the electronic record as required.
  • Maintains point-of-care testing standards, including daily quality control for procedural devices.
  • Clearly communicates instructions and explains procedures to patients to ease concerns and encourage cooperation.
  • Applies proper positioning and radiographic techniques for all diagnostic and interventional procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of patient preparation, equipment operation, and patient monitoring systems.
  • Functions competently in the first assist role.
  • Promotes aseptic technique, patient safety, and adherence to time-out procedures.
  • Administers contrast under physician direction.
  • Supports other departments as assigned.
  • Maintains working knowledge of equipment and supplies.
  • Provides standby call coverage as scheduled, in accordance with system-wide policies.
  • Adheres to radiation safety practices for patients and staff, including proper use of shielding and monitoring devices, and documents patient radiation exposure in the electronic record.
  • Responsibilities may vary based on job location.
  • Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology (RT-R) or Invasive Cardiovascular Specialist (RCIS).
    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
     
  • ARRT Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiology OR ARRT Certificate OR Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist OR Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Echocardiograph and Ultrasound
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within one year of hire/transfer into department/role.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Act 34
