The Renal-Electrolyte Division is seeking a Laboratory Technician I to work within one of our NIH (National Institutes of Health)- and DOD (Department of Defense)- and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)- funded laboratories. Our laboratory employs exciting cutting-edge methods from a variety of disciplines, including molecular biology, cellular biology, and animal physiology and pathology to investigate molecular pathways leading to progressive kidney injury.
Performs laboratory testing and some analysis on multiple types of specimen samples. Operates and properly sterilizes equipment and maintains inventory and assists with ordering.
Performs laboratory testing and assays.
Prepare and test multiple types of specimens.
Operates and maintains laboratory equipment and laboratory cleanliness.
Keeps detailed and accurate data and logbooks.
Organizes/documents results.
Maintains inventory, orders supplies/chemicals/reagents.
Organizes rodent colony and performs animal manipulations, surgeries, etc.
Moderate physical effort required. May be required to stand/move for several hours at a time. May be required to move objects up to 50 pounds with or without assistance of equipment.
