The Equipment Operator A for Event Services with the Department of Agriculture plays a key part in keeping the Farm Show Complex running smoothly. This position plays an important role in supporting events and maintaining the Farm Show Complex through equipment operation and hands-on work. It offers a steady pace, varied responsibilities, and daily opportunities to contribute to the success of the facility. As a Equipment Operator A for Event Services, you will perform the following duties:
- Equipment Operation: Operate a wide range of machinery such as loaders, forklifts, tractors, lifts, sweepers, scrubbers, and snow removal equipment
- Event Setup Support: Assist in hauling, placing, setting up, and tearing down furniture, equipment, barriers, pens, stages, and other items for events
- Facility Care: Maintain buildings and grounds by sweeping, mopping, cleaning restrooms, removing trash, disinfecting surfaces, and performing general custodial work
- Material Handling: Move, load, and unload supplies such as straw, hay, feed, scrap materials, and deliveries throughout the complex
- Maintenance Assistance: Perform minor repairs, conduct preventative maintenance checks, and identify equipment defects during daily operation
- General Labor: Help clean livestock areas, spread materials, remove debris, shovel snow, and support additional manual tasks as assigned

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Permanent, part-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Wednesday
- This position is considered essential and as such is required to report to working during emergencies and office closings.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Six months experience in the operation and maintenance of large vans, buses and single-chassis trucks with a gross vehicle weight of 10,001 pounds or more; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirement:
- This position requires possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license.
Preferred Qualification:
- Experience working around animals and livestock and in large-scale public events.
Additional Requirement:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
