As a Registered Nurse Instructor with the South Mountain Restoration Center, you will help our staff grow and succeed as they work hard to provide high quality resident care. The center provides long-term care to persons who have histories of serious psychiatric illness, persons who have lived for many years in state centers, and persons who have been incarcerated.

This position focuses on professional nursing educational work teaching employees nursing theory, skills, and methods through clear instruction and supportive guidance. Your work will help ensure that programs remain effective, up-to-date, and aligned with professional standards. As a Registered Nurse Instructor, you will perform the following duties:
- Develop Continuing Education: Assess staff needs; assist in preparing lesson plans and resource material for in-service education; share relevant knowledge gained at out-service seminars and workshops
- Present Instruction: Teach classes to all levels of nursing personnel on nursing practices, resident care, safety, documentation, and other core, new, and diverse topics
- Evaluate Programs: Review training effectiveness by observing staff performance and maintaining records
- Orient New Staff: Develop and provide programs to guide new personnel through center policies, procedures, layout, and expectations
- Train Nurse Aides: Coordinate, administer, and evaluate the Center’s Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program (NATCEP) in compliance with current standards
- Participate in Committees: Chair, serve on, and collaborate with various committees to assess and implement procedural updates, monitor programs, and coordinate training

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Three years of professional nursing experience; and a bachelor’s degree in nursing, nursing education, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university; or
- One year of professional nursing experience and a master's degree in nursing, nursing education, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
- If you possess an active temporary practice permit, you must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
