This position oversees a highway maintenance crew that performs a wide range of road repair and upkeep tasks to support safe and efficient travel. You will guide operations, address field challenges, and support effective project planning.
As a Highway Foreman 2, you will perform the following duties:
- Crew Leadership: Direct and coordinate the work of equipment operators and laborers during daily maintenance activities
- Work Planning: Recommend, schedule, and organize maintenance tasks, equipment needs, and material use to reduce downtime
- Safety Oversight: Maintain proper work zone traffic control and promote safe practices to protect crews and the public
- Training Support: Instruct crew members in correct tool use, maintenance procedures, and expected work standards
- Record Management: Keep clear records of field activities and promptly report unusual conditions, injuries, or equipment issues
- Equipment Adjustment: Make minor field adjustments to vehicles and equipment using hand tools

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Overtime, shift work and travel may be required for emergencies, training and specialized maintenance operations.
- Dual shifts required for winter operations.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $53,105 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Highway Foreman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Two years of experience in the performance of lead work or skilled tradesman duties on a highway maintenance or construction project; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania Driver's License.
