This position supports investigations and enforcement efforts related to state tax compliance for businesses and individuals. Your work helps ensure tax laws are understood, followed, and fairly applied. As a Field Enforcement Agent 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Field Training: Observe experienced agents in investigative activities, tax collection procedures, and compliance enforcement
- Inspection Support: Assist with registration checks, on-site fuel testing, and inspections of businesses and vehicles
- Investigation Assistance: Participate in inquiries involving delinquent taxes, contraband tobacco products, and license compliance
- Information Gathering: Search records, evaluate financial details, conduct surveillance, and collect evidence for review
- Public Interaction: Communicate with taxpayers, businesses, and agencies while promoting understanding of tax requirements
- Report Preparation: Help prepare investigative reports, documentation, and materials needed for legal or administrative action

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
- Home Headquartered: This position is home headquartered. In order to be home headquartered, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Four years of experience in tax investigation work; or
- Four years of experience in collections operations in a business, commercial, industrial, government, or finance office; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
- You must possess an active motor vehicle license.
Additional Requirements:
- You must reside in Armstrong or Butler County. Relocation is not an option.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- This position will have access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and is subject to the provisions of IRS Publication 1075 (Pub 1075) which requires you to pass an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment. Under Pub 1075, acceptance of a conditional offer of employment will require submission to and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to: a fingerprint-based federal records check; a PA State Police clearance; a check of local law enforcement agencies where you have lived, worked, and/or attended school within the last five (5) years; and a citizenship/residency verification.
- You must meet eligibility requirements for the Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN).
