This position focuses on protecting swimmers and maintaining a safe environment at the Little Buffalo State Park pool. The role includes monitoring the swimming area, responding to emergencies, and ensuring compliance with safety rules. As a Lifeguard, you will perform the following duties:
- Pool Monitoring: Observe swimmers and maintain order in the pool area to reduce risks
- Emergency Response: Recognize distress, perform rescues, and provide first aid and CPR as needed
- Safety Enforcement: Explain and uphold park rules to support a safe experience for all visitors
- Equipment Inspection: Check safety gear, buoys, and swimming areas to ensure proper working condition
- Report Completion: Prepare accurate written logs, forms, and incident reports promptly
- Facility Upkeep: Perform basic maintenance and custodial work to keep the pool and surrounding areas clean

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Seasonal full-time employment without benefits. The season runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
- Full-time and part-time schedules available
- Work hours are 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Work schedule will vary not to exceed 37.5 hours per week and will include weekends and holidays

QUALIFICATIONS
Special Requirements:
- All employees must obtain a valid Lifeguard Certification issued by the American Red Cross, YMCA, United States Lifesaving Association, or other authority recognized by the Pennsylvania Department of Health within 14 days of employment.
- All employees must obtain valid certifications in standard first aid and adult, child, and infant CPR within 14 days of employment.
Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- You must pass a background investigation.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
- In accordance with Act 153 of 2014 this position is required to complete Child Abuse, Criminal and Federal Criminal History Checks around the time of hire and thereafter every 5 years.
