Parole Supervisor - Harrisburg District Office - Dauphin General Unit 2

Build a strong career as a Parole Supervisor with the Department of Corrections in the Harrisburg District Office. In this role, you lead a team of Parole Agents who carry out the essential work of enforcing requirements and monitoring reentrants in the community. You coordinate assignments, review case activity, and direct daily operations to ensure obligations are met and standards are upheld. Your leadership reinforces accountability, consistency, and order across the unit.
NOTE: Senate Bill 411 merged the Department of Corrections and the Board of Probation and Parole. This position is within the Department of Corrections.

This position oversees a Field Supervision Unit by managing Parole Agents and directing the unit’s daily workflow. It demands organized caseload management, clear communication, and thorough knowledge of agency procedures to uphold expectations and maintain consistent performance. As a Parole Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:

  • Caseload Management: Assign investigations, review reports for accuracy, and ensure compliance with policy
  • Staff Guidance: Train agents, evaluate performance, and provide feedback to improve skills
  • Case Review: Conduct conferences, develop sanctions, and monitor reentrant progress
  • Operational Oversight: Maintain administrative controls that track investigations, hearings, and transfers, and authorize overtime when appropriate
  • Field Support: Assist with collateral contacts, investigations, arrests, and transportation when needed
  • Community Coordination: Build relationships with community groups, police divisions, and service providers for referrals

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work schedule and hours to be determined. You will work holidays and weekends as required.
  • Travel is required.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years as a Parole Agent 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Three years and six months of professional experience in casework or counseling of offenders, auditing of offender caseloads, or investigation, in probation, parole, corrections, or a law enforcement agency; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

  • You must be in possession of an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
  • You must obtain CLEAN certification within two months of employment and maintain this certification for the duration of employment in this job.

Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training at the Training Academy in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements: 

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and a drug screening.
