This position assists with maintaining forest lands and facilities while supporting wildfire prevention and safety activities across the district. The role involves hands-on maintenance tasks, equipment operation, and participation in fire management duties. As a Forest Maintenance Worker, you will perform the following duties:
- Grounds Maintenance: Carry out tasks such as mowing, clearing debris, repairing facilities, maintaining trails, and performing general cleanup
- Equipment Operation: Operate tractors, mowers, ATVs, chainsaws, and other tools to complete maintenance and forestry tasks
- Fire Prevention: Assist with wildfire education programs, hazard detection, and preparation activities such as burn strip work
- Fire Response: Support wildfire suppression efforts by responding to incidents and using fire control equipment
- Public Assistance: Provide helpful information to visitors and maintain a polite and professional presence
- Safety Compliance: Follow safety policies, use protective gear, and maintain equipment in safe working condition

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026 through November 2026, at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment in March 2027.
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Overtime may be required for state forest operations or emergencies such as wildfire suppression.
- Travel may be required for training.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Condition of Employment:
- This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent
